Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS, Former ECO+)
The Great British Insulation Scheme (Previous name was ECO Plus – ECO+) is the UK Government’s newly launched program on July 25, 2023, which makes residential homes more energy efficient under the grant. It is introduced after the ECO4 grant which will help to insulate the homes.
The criteria of eligibility for the property the scheme
The energy performance certificate (EPC) of your house must be D to G
And Council Tax bands must be A-D in England
The criteria of eligibility for the applicant is:
Should be taking any certain benefit
Or Income must be under £31,000/- (if applicant not taking any benefit)
This scheme is for everyone like homeowner, landlord and tenant.
Benefits that are eligible under the Scheme low-income group
Income based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
Income related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
Income Support (IS)
Pension Credit Guarantee Credit (PCGC)
Working Tax Credit (WTC)
Child Tax Credit (CTC)
Universal Credit (UC)
Housing Benefit
Pension Credit Savings Credit (PCSC)
Child Benefit (subject to income caps and composition)
This scheme only available for insulation measures like
Cavity wall insulation (if eligible)
Solid wall insulation
Loft insulation (if eligible)
Flat roof insulation
Underfloor insulation
Room-in-roof insulation
Heating Controls (if eligible)
Boiler Installation, heat pump installation and solar panels are not available under this grant.
The best thing about this grant is that you can apply for single measures, such as underfloor insulation or loft insulation, unlike the ECO4 grant, which requires all the measures to be insulated.
